Digital back propagation in optical solitons for PBR reduction
Gaganpreet Kaur

We investigate the use of Digital Back Propagation technique to optical solitons for long distance transmission. An optical solitons pulse has been transmitted over distance of 18,000 km. Results indicate a finite pulse spreading with pulse Broadening Ratio (PBR) of 13. But using Digital back propagation over virtual fiber of 800km before receiver detection helped reduce the PBR to nearly zero.

A comparative study to solve the differential algebraic equation systems by using genetic algorithm and neural networks
Wahed, M.E., Abdelslam, Z.A. and Eldaken, O.M.

In this paper, the solution system of differential algebraic equations (DAES). A novel hybrid method for the solution of ordinary and partial differential equations is presented here. The method creates trial solutions in Genetic Algorithms, neural network form using a scheme based on grammatical evolution. The trial solutions are enhanced periodically using a local optimization procedure. The proposed method is tested on a series of ordinary differential equations, systems of ordinary...

Observations on the hyperbola Y2 = 102x2 + 33
Gopalan, M.A. Vijayasankar, A. and Kumari, V.

The binary quadratic equation is considered and a few interesting properties among the solutions are presented. Employing the integer solutions of the equation under consideration, a special Pythagorean triangle is obtained.

On special linear polynomial sequences
Gopalan, M.A., Vidhyalakshmi, S. and Thiruniraiselvi, N.

This paper concerns with the study of obtaining an infinite sequence of linear polynomials such that the product of any two or three consecutive polynomials plus or minus their sum and increased by a polynomial of degree two with integer coefficients is a square of polynomial.

Sangam Khalil, Maqsood Anwar, Iftikhar Hussain, and Naureen Mustafa

The roosting habit of Grey Francolin (Francolinus pondicerianus) was studied in cultivated as well as in forest habitats in Salt Range, Punjab, Pakistan. Roosting trees and shrub were identified in the study area, these includes Acacia modesta, Acacia nilotica, Dilbergia sisso as tree species and a shrub Zizypus jujuba. The study showed that grey francolin mostly roosts on Acacia modesta tree which indicates the association of this species with this tree. It usually roosts before the sunset...

Optimization and performance evaluation of cotton seed delinting machine
Ugwu, K. C., Ogbuagu, N. J. and Egwuagu, O.M.

An electrically operated cotton seed delinting machine was optimized and its performance was evaluated. The machine was modified by introducing three pulleys with diameters as 250mm, 200mm and 120mm, which produced rotor speeds of 550rpm, 600rpm and 650rpm respectively. The rotor speeds were then used to test the designed machine and its efficiency were evaluated. The belt and pulley were used to transmit power from the electric motor to the shaft of the cotton seed delinting machine unit....
