Indices of Identification of Products Likeness in World Trade Organization

The current essay has studied the indices of identification of the likeness of products in WTO and their impact on the investigation of the dispute between the exporting countries with the importing country and demonstration of the breach of these countries in illegal support of the internal products versus the imported product. Through the library based study of the issues related to the likeness one can conclude that we can find few cases in which the reasons of the "likeness" of products could lead us to clear results. The results suggest that the DSBs and the Appellate Body have often been grappling with the ambiguity of the definition of likeness. However, in various statements they have alluded to the relevant likeness criteria including physical features, tariff classification, the tastes and habits of the customers, products price (cross price elasticity of demand), marketing strategies, distribution channels and sale places.
