Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health. Body Mass Index is a simple index of weight / height that is commonly used to classify overweight and obesity in adults. Childhood obesity is increasingly being with the changing lifestyle of families with increased purchasing power, increasing hours of inactivity due to television, video games and computer, which are replacing outdoor games and other social activities . The WHO has describes obesity as one of today’s most neglected public health problem. The most important consequence of childhood obesity is its persistence into adulthood with all its risks. The health risks include CVD, diabetes, osteoarthritis, gallbladder disease etc. The objective of this study – To asses the different type of health status school going children between the age group of 9 -13 years. To assess the food consumption frequency among the obese children. Conclusion- Children’s high levels of fast food consumption probably are even higher because of an increase in the number of fast – food restaurant and in fast- food marketing. This study found 98% of respondents were like to eat fast food so the school going children given more preferences for fast food. Parents must play their part by providing healthy food in the home and encouraging physical activity.
